Background
Helping Up Mission, Inc. is a faith-based, non-denominational, Christian organization offering permanent solutions to those experiencing homelessness, poverty, and addiction. Helping Up Mission, Inc. (HUM) provides hope through programs designed to meet their individual physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs. Compassionate and substantial residential care is given to almost 550 men and 250 women in need, without consideration of race, economic or religious status at its campus in East Baltimore. Job Summary
The Food Service Coordinator will assist in scheduling, transportation, receiving, sorting, storage, and redistribution of food received while adhering to the Core Values of Helping Up Mission.
Primary Duties
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Act as a role model to program clients and help them adjust to the program and community.
- Lead work therapy clients on daily work assignments.
- Work with work therapy clients to instill a solid work ethic and professionalism.
- Ensure all HACCP requirements, industry guidelines, SOP’s, Health Department permits, Fire permits, and State guidelines are met.
- Assist in ensuring daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual pickup schedules are kept and logged.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in both pantries and outdoor freezer boxes.
- Assist in filling out daily temperature logs, trash logs, and all necessary paperwork to maintain compliance with city, state and federal requirements.
- Assist in keeping updating inventory logs and regularly inform kitchen of available food
- Assist in planning and allocating routes/times for donation pickups and drop offs, ensuring that the varying needs of external customers and clients are met.
- Maintain gas, fluids, and pre-drive check items for the various fleet vehicles used for food transportation.
- Maintain cleanliness of fleet vehicles used for food transportation.
- Maintain upkeep of pantry by coaching, counseling, and corrective action when necessary.
- Assist in developing a rapport with vendors, customers, and clients to develop schedules that are best suited for both parties.
- Safeguard facilities and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
- Help to minimize waste and reduce costs where possible.
- Assist in ordering from Food Bank as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Maryland Driver’s License required.
- Ability to multitask in a professional manner.
- Ability to prioritize work and complete duties in a timely fashion.
- Ability to be open-minded to new ideas and methods.
- Ability to problem-solve on various issues as they relate to the pantry and donations.

- Strong verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds in a fair, supportive and cooperative manner.
- Food Safety Certification.
Salary Range: $15.00/hourly
